Richard Dale Kelso Jr.

Rick was born on August 22, 1956, in Peoria, IL, to Richard D. and Roberta B. (Hoak) Kelso, Sr.

His grandparents, parents, and several aunts and uncles preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sister, Tyleen M. (Robert) Rentfro of Litchfield Park, AZ, his brother, Scott A. (Susan) Kelso of Morton, IL, four nieces, Ashley A. Rentfro of North Hollywood, CA, Jennifer K. (Mark) Isbell of Peoria, IL, Kelsi L. (Cameron) Griffin of Litchfield Park, AZ, and Elizabeth K. (Zach) Peterson of Sunrise, FL, one nephew, Austin J. Rentfro of Litchfield Park, AZ, and three grand-nieces, Amara J. Peterson and Briza H. Peterson of Sunrise, FL, and Ivy M. Griffin of Litchfield Park, AZ., with a grand-nephew, Ezra C. Peterson, due to arrive September 26, 2024.

Rick was a graduate of East Peoria Community High School, Class of 1974.

Rick worked as a Customer Service Coordinator for American Airlines at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for 30 years. Rick was awarded The 2014 American Airlines Annual Chairman’s Award. This is awarded to an employee for their exemplary career and unparalleled dedication to customers, colleagues and the airline.

As an airline employee, Rick was afforded the opportunity to travel extensively. He made the most of that opportunity and travelled all over the world. Rick was an ardent Arizona Diamondback fan, and he held season tickets from their inception in 1998.

Rick was a proud resident of Downtown Phoenix since 1990 and could often be seen either walking to one of the many restaurants nearby or hopping on the light rail to head down to Chase Field for a DBack’s game.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Pastor Jonathan Chadbourn will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Rick's family will be arranging a celebration of life gathering to take place in Phoenix at a later date. Details will be forthcoming.
