Sandra “Sandy” Wright, age 79, of Peoria, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:57am, and Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Mom passed away peacefully after complications from a fall on Sunday. With her family surrounding her, she ran into the arms of Jesus, her Savior. With all of the adversity she has fought for the last 25 years, this was God's plan all along to take her Home peacefully and quickly without suffering.
We are so thankful for her and her zest for life. We know that this comes as a shock to those who loved her and we are still reeling from this sudden loss.
She was born August 24, 1944 in Herrin, IL to Richard Hal and Marie (Morris) Chitty. She married Richard Wright on August 22, 1964 in Peoria. He survives along with one son, Jay (Rose) Wright of Mackinaw, one daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Workman of Tremont, four grandchildren: Aidan and Sèan Wright of Mackinaw, Eli (Ashlee) Workman of Claremore, OK, Tess (Teagan Johnson) of Coweta, OK, one great Grandson, Austin Lee Workman of Claremore, OK, and two sisters: Rosemary Moffatt of Peoria, Gail (Joe) Wilkins of Sachse, TX.
Above all, mom loved her grandchildren Eli, Tess, Aidan and Sèan. They were her life and breath and then great grandson, Austin came along and she was smitten all over again. What a joy she was to us all and will leave an indelible mark on this dark world we live in.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Sandy first worked for Caterpillar as a Secretary for five years in the 1960’s. She then was a Secretary for the Basketball Department at Bradley University for 10 years retiring in 2002.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, the Bradley Chiefs Club, and the Caterpillar Mixed Chorus. She loved acting in the Caterpillar Musicals. In 1977 she was Daisy Mae in Li’l Abner and in 1986 she was Fiona Campbell in Brigadoon. In 1980 she won the Roscoe award for her acting and service to the chorus.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Church. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
