She was born March 18, 1938 in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Lewis and Lula Troxell Walters.
Kathy is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (Tim) Christianson Kennedy of Bloomingdale, IL and Sarah (Joe) Erlenbusch of Minier; two grandchildren, Kirsten Renee Erlenbusch and Ian Russell Erlenbusch; three sisters, Doris Smithee of Minier, Charlotte Lockard of Little Rock, AR, and Diane (Rich) Pondelick Frisby of Brockfield, WI; and two brothers, Joe (Peggy) Walters of Yuma, TN and Jimmie (Diane) Smith of Germantown Hills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lisa Ann Christianson; two brothers, Kenneth Walters, and Dennis Walters; and one sister, Janie Swift.
Kathy was a waitress in several East Peoria restaurants early in her career, she owned a coffee shop in Deer Creek, she was the cook at Minier Grade School, and served as a custodian for Olympia High School until her retirement.
Kathy remained independent and tenacious. She loved her family first, and learning second. She enjoyed tinkering on house projects, reading, playing the autoharp, gardening, painting and spirited debates. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Wolf Clan (known as "Nightshade"), the NRA and the ISRA.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm April 4, 2018 at Remmert Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Morton.
