She was born to the late Harry W. and Ernestine A. (Cohen) Kaufman on August 14, 1928 in Peoria. She married Roger L. Peden on July 19, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV.
She was formerly married to Robert L. Harvey and Rolland J. St. John, and they preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline Oberto.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Roger Peden, of Morton, children, Robert (Nancy) Harvey of Mapleton, Richard Harvey of East Peoria, Jeanne Harvey of Pekin, and Cathy Stayer of West Peoria, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a homemaker until she went to work as a bookkeeper for Cristal Electric in 1957, where she worked for the next 28 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Methodist faith. Shirley was a skilled knitter and loved spending time with her family. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting flowers and decorating her deck.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
