Susan Irene Simms

Susan was born on April 26, 1939 in Peoria to Charles L. and Margie E. (Kaiser) Simms. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Charlotte, her brother Charles Simms, her sister-in-law, Joan Simms, and her great nephew, Charles S. Simms.

Survivors include her nieces and nephew, Diane Fifield of East Peoria, Charles S. (Abby) Simms of East Peoria and Mary Beth (Peter) Marathas of Boston Ma, and many great nieces and nephews.

After graduation from East Peoria High School, Susan attended Brown's Peoria School of Business, graduating in March of 1958. She then went to work for the Illinois Daily Newspaper Markets until their dissolution in 1976. She began work at Caterpillar as a secretary in 1976 and retired in 1999, ending her career as a programmer in East Peoria.

Before and after retirement, Susan traveled the world extensively with her parents, especially her Mother and her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed auctions and flea markets and was astute in the area of collectibles and antiques. She enjoyed having a booth in an antiques mall at which she sold her prized collections.

According to Susan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria.
