Sweet “Little Granny” was born and raised in Arnoldsville, Oglethorpe County, Georgia. She settled in East Ridge after marrying and remained there most of the rest of her life. Ruth was a member of South Seminole Baptist Church and worked for many years at the Erlanger School of Nursing and Erlanger Hospital. She was known in all circles for her kind spirit, her sense of humor, and her selfless service to family and community.
Surviving are daughter Elaine Coffman of East Ridge; son Kent Hobbs (Sherlyn) of Chattanooga; son Dee Hobbs (Lisa) of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Ron Sanford, Tim Smith, Jamie Smith, Kerri Smith Capehart, David Hobbs, Meredith Arp; Brient Hobbs; Sam Hobbs; Mackenzie Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Jarod Hobbs, Conner Capehart, Sophie Capehart, Elaine Arp, Oliver Arp; Emmitt Arp; Brileigh Hobbs; brother, Jim Morgan of Clinton, Tennessee, and Jeanette Bradley of East Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Viola Morgan; her husband, Brient Hobbs; four brothers and four sisters.
The family express special appreciation to Peggy Fowler and Mildred Brooks for their loving care of our Ruth during her final days.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 26, 2020, at Lakewood Memory Gardens South with Pastor Ron Perry officiating. A future life celebration will be announced later.
