

Doris Silver, 92, a former Hoopeston resident, passed away on April 6, 2015, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is survived by three children, Bruce Hoagland (Catherine), Birmingham, Alabama, and Dianne Summers (Mark), Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Linda Focken (Gary), Fairfield Glades, Tennessee, and by six grandchildren, Benjamin Hoagland (Kimberly), Norfolk, Virginia, Mary Catherine Flemming (Ross), Franklin, Tennessee, Tara Lyles (James), Ringgold,Georgia, Michelle Lands (Craig), Chickamauga, Georgia,Michael Focken (Tammy), Chebanse, Illinois, and Michelle Hurni (George), Estes Park, Colorado. She is survived by six great-grandchildren,Garrett Hurni, Chloe Lyles, Ethan Lyles, Peyton Lands, Bentley Lands, and Madison Flemming. She was preceded in death by Harry Silver and daughter, Kathie Silver.
Doris graduated from Franklin College, Franklin, Indiana, with a B.S. in Bio-Chemistry and had lived in the Hoopeston area for many years until she moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. She had been a member of Hoopeston United Methodist Church, the Hoopeston Hospital Auxiliary, and enjoyed painting and participated in many of the Hoopeston Art Shows at the Park.
After moving to Chattanooga, she joined Brainerd United Methodist Church, did volunteer work in the office, was a member of the Friendship Class.
Her memorial service will be at the Brainerd United Methodist Church,4315 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Sunday, May 3, 2015, beginning at 2:00P.M. EST.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either Gideons International or Brainerd United Methodist Church Building Fund.
