Harry Denton Robertson

Harry Denton ”Cowboy” Robertson, 97, of East Ridge, TN passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 26, 2020. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Robertson was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was attached to the 224th Quartermaster Service Company. Battles and campaigns are as follows: Normandy Battle of the Bulge, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a past member of the American Legion William E. Blair Post 95.

Mr. Robertson retired from the Western Union Telegraph Company with 30 Plus years of service.

He loved to sing, especially country and religious songs and was an avid sports fan of women’s softball, football, baseball and his beloved Chicago Cubs.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Bernice Rush Robertson; parents, Olice L. and Phena Cope Robertson; two brothers, Lamar Robertson and Billy Jack Robertson.

Survivors include his daughter, Patsy Robertson Shattle; son, Phillip Wayne Robertson; granddaughter, Gretchen Shattle (Michael) Miller; two grandsons, Kevin J. Robertson and Will (Liz) Robertson and their mother, Christine Robertson; great-grandchildren, Brenna Miller (Jon) Clayton, Jaden Miller; Grace Robertson and Emmie Robertson; sister, Jessie Robertson Barringer; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Senior Helpers and the Staff of NHC Parkwood for their loving care and compassion.

Due to the national health crisis services will be private and will be streamed on Facebook live at 1 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2020. To view the service go to Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel’s facebook page and click on the “video” tab. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
