He was a great Daddy, a loving husband and a friend to all who met him. He had a great sense of humor and loved fishing, bowling and gardening. He loved his faith and church OLPH where he was an Usher for Years and loved his OLPH family.
He sold newspapers when he was just a young boy to Breckenridge homes, a German POW camp. He talked often of this and how nice the Germans were to him, some would give him an extra dime or an ice cream when he would come by. He always stated that they were family men and had children at home and they missed them. Even at an early age, he had respect and compassion.
He was in the Army, where he was a paratrooper, and company clerk in the 1950's. He had fond memories of this time and always said he would love to jump just one more time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Williams, Sister, Annie Williams, Brother Gerald Williams, Brother,
Ed Williams, Brother Gene Williams and Brother Jack Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jennie Lee Williams, daughter and caregiver Carolyn (Deal) Harty, daughter, Marlene (Ron) Sturkie, grandaughters, Elizabeth (Anthony) Sims, Jamie (Jim) Belco, and Lois Sturkie, grandson, Michael Robertson, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of James’ Life will be held at OLPH on Friday August 24, 2018 @ 11:00 with Father Jim officiating, afterwards a graveside committal with military honors will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
