Jerald was a member of the East Ridge High School Class of 1965 and attended college in Memphis, TN. He proudly served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He worked at Haley and Ed Wright Chevrolet and Choo Choo Customs and was the owner of White and Peels Auto Center for 34 years.
Jerald was a lifelong resident of East Ridge. He loved his community, his friends, and his customers, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Family was everything to him, and he loved them fiercely. Diane was the love of his life, and he was hers—forever best friends. They shared a love that most people will never experience. He would always stand up for his children and grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader, deeply loved by each of them.
He was raised by two loving parents and was respected by many. He enjoyed boating, motorcycles, and anything with speed, as well as watching and helping his friends on race days. Jerald coached many teams, including Little League softball and East Ridge Elementary basketball for many years.
He was a devoted Christian and a member of Unity Baptist Church. He often said that the Lord is in control, and he placed all of his faith in Him.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family finds comfort in the assurance of their faith and the hope of being reunited with him again.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Thursday, April 23 and from 11 AM – 1 PM Friday, April 24 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Mike Combs, Sr. officiating.
