Lucian Murl Jackson

Lucian Murl Jackson, 82 Chattanooga, TN, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2017. He was born on December 2, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William Findley and Nettie Richardson Jackson. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, a United States Army Veteran, and earned degrees in chemistry and mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University before enjoying a lengthy career as an industrial development chemist. He was retired from Morflex Corporation where he served as Chemical Manager. He was an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church, the Harvest Sunday School Class, and a longtime volunteer at Hacoba Care Ministries of the Hamilton County Baptist Association. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Poynor Jackson, with whom he would have shared 60 years of marriage on August 24. He is also survived by daughters Kim Jackson and Laura Jackson Kemp (Neal); a son, Dalen Jackson (Shari); and grandchildren Tyler Darnell, Ethan Darnell (Kevin Shealy), Jack Goodwin, Daniel Jackson, Laura Goodwin Sargent (Elliot Sargent), Lucas Darnell, and Emma Jackson. He was a faithful and tireless servant to family, friends, and strangers and dearly loved by all. He enjoyed helping anyone in need, traveling, playing golf and basketball, watching sports and spending time with friends and family. He was honored to serve on several mission trips from teaching English in China, to recently helping with the soccer outreach camp in Colorado, to name a few. He remained active in recent years, experiencing hang-gliding for the first time last year. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at Ridgedale Baptist Church with Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the East Chapel and 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
