

Mary Margaret Neuhoff passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011. She was born in Chattanooga on August 12, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Anthony (Joe) Neuhoff, and her parents Herbert and Aloyse Alsobrook Haile. She is survived by five children including Tony (Linda), Pat (Nancy), and Chris Neuhoff, and Cissy (Bill) West, all of Chattanooga, and Mary (David) Bush of Elizabethton, TN. Nine grandchildren including Alyssa Neuhoff, Caitlyn Sudkamp, Megan and Daniel Neuhoff, William and Marti Bush, John, Katie and James West. She is also survived by her brother Herbert "Buddy" Haile of Signal Mountain, and cousins Ann Alsobrook of Greenback, TN and Patsy McManus of Windsor, Ontario and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Margaret was a life long member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Her parents were founding members of the parish. She attended high school in Nazareth, KY. She graduated from the University of Chattanooga with a degree in art and she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was presented at the 16th Cotton Ball. Following college, she worked for TV A and later as office manager for Electric Tool Rental Company. In 1954 she married Joe Neuhoff, and together they shared 40 years of marriage.
After retirement she enjoyed volunteer work, such as the Meals on Wheels program and helping with various functions at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She was also an active member of the Ladies of Charity. In later years her passion for art led her to the study of icon writing which she pursued with her cousin and friends.
She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel from 5-8 p.m. on Friday with a rosary at 7. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Nolan presiding. Active pall bearers will be Carl, Steve, Sidney and Skip Neuhoff, Robert and Michael Haile, Jim Crowder and Tom McMahon. Honorary pall bearers will be her caregivers from Morning Pointe Assisted Living.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Notre Dame High School or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or School.
