She was an active member of Brainerd Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mary Jane taught Sunday School and was a member of the Bethany Sunday School Class. She was director of the WMU. She also served on the church phone counseling committee. She like her husband, was a diehard North Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan. She also enjoyed birdwatching from her kitchen window. Mary Jane also was a member of the Claremont Garden Club. But most importantly, Mary Jane was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and especially “Nana” to her grandsons whom she adored so much.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, George Stanley; parents, James and Sarah Doubles; sister, Betsy Sink; and a brother, James Doubles, Jr.
Left behind to cherish Mary Jane’s memory are her; daughter, Janie Stanley Mosman and her husband Stewart; son, Tommy Stanley and his wife Beth; two grandsons, Jonathan Mosman and his wife Avery, and Joseph Mosman and Jessica Browder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday October 28, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with her nephew, Rev. Edwin Sink officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with her beloved husband, George. Rev. Dr. Steve Rowland will be presiding.
