Her sweet spirit and kind heart will be missed by her family and friends. She was a Christian and faithful member of South Seminole Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mattie graduated from Meigs County High School and attended Tennessee Weslyn College where she loved being on the basketball teams. She grew up in Ten Mile, TN with a basketball in her hands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Norton, parents, Ernest and Bonnie Bostic, brother, Charles Bostic.
Left behind to cherish Mattie’s memory are her children, Teresa (Herb) Gravitt, Jasper, TN, Stan (Denise) Norton, Augusta, GA, grandchildren, Jennifer (Skip) Pond, Lindsey (Clif) Merritt, Mack Norton, great-grandchildren, Reese Pond, Ellie Pond, brother, Penny (Susie) Bostic, and many dear family and friends.
A Celebration of Mattie’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday February 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mattie will be laid to rest with her husband in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to her caregivers Katy Hamby and Corey Bauldwin.
Also in lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions in honor of Mattie Norton to be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 6005 Century Oaks Dr #500, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
