Phillip “Phil” McCoy Durrence, Jr. passed away on August 28, 2020. He was surrounded by friends and family. Born in Glennville, Georgia, Phil had been a Chattanooga resident for over thirty years. Phil was an attorney by trade, but was better known for his big personality and generous spirit outside of the courtroom. Phil took special joy throughout his life in coaching his sons’ little-league sports teams, telling tall-tales around a backyard bonfire, and listening to live music in almost every venue across the southeast. He will be especially missed for his semi-legal Fourth of July fireworks extravaganzas.
Phil is preceded in death by his Father, Phillip McCoy Durrence, Sr. and his Sister, Patty Parks.
He is survived by his two sons, Jasen and Kevin Durrence; his grandson, Kellan Durrence; his Mother, Marklyn Durrence; his sister, Candice Derbecker; his brothers-in-law, Dennis Parks and Alan Derbecker; his nephew, Derek Parks; and his nieces, Meagan Parks-Martinez and Morgan Derbecker.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
