Chester is survived by his wife Margie “Stecik” Thompson; daughter Mary Ruth Danielson and son-in-law David; grandchildren Hannah, Jacob and Clark Danielson; brothers, Spencer (Norma) Thompson and Glenn (Barbara) Thompson; sister Faye (Bobby) Teater, along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents O.C. Thompson and Ruth “Stakely” Thompson, sister Eleanor Putnam and brother V.C. Thompson.
Chester was born on Nov. 20, 1939 in Rome, Georgia. He was a graduate of Central High School and member of its legendary 1957 State Championship football team. He was a plumber by trade, a profession that took him north where he met and married his sweetheart Margie in1969. In 1974 they returned to make their home in East Ridge, Tenn.
Chester was skilled in football and horseshoes and enjoyed the game of golf. He was also known to cut a rug with the best of them and was never known to meet a stranger. He is remembered as a gentle heart devoted to family, especially the apple of his eye Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 7 pm Tuesday in the East Chapel. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown, PA.
