

Robert Franklin Watson (Bob) went home to be with the Lord Sunday February 13th 2011. Bob, 78, was born in Chattanooga, TN and grew up in Ridgedale. His connection to Lookout Valley began when he was a teenager while working at Sam Steffner’s drugstore and Dick Duggan’s grocery store. He met his wife of 62 years, Lillian (Barry) Watson of Lookout Valley in 1949. Bob owned O’dell’s Grocery & Deli for 38 years until he retired in 2009. Bob liked to cook, work around the house, and spend time with his 3 grandchildren.
Bob was recognized as Lookout Valley Citizen of the Month in December 2004 for his dedication and commitment to the community. He always extended a helping hand when needed and never demanded any recognition in return for his unselfish efforts.
Bob was the youngest of 6 siblings. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents Mary (Jenkins) Watson and Joseph Arthur Watson, along with siblings Ona Garner, Woodrow Watson, Luther Watson, and Joseph Watson. Mary Margaret (Chattanooga) is the last living sibling.
Bob was the loving father of sons Steven (Sherry) Watson, Barry (Debbie) Watson of Chattanooga and Kelley (Jim) Raleigh of New York. Grandchildren include Callie Watson, Presley Watson and Andy Watson. Bob has several nieces and nephews across the U.S.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Lamar Moore officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West. The family will receive friends from 3-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Hoodenpyle, Ken Terry, Charles Coley, Windy Adams, Lloyd Steele and Jim Raleigh. Flowers can be sent to Chattanooga Funeral Home, East or donations can be made to Shepherd’s Arms Rescue Mission.
