Born in Roseto, PA on April 27, 1931, she was one of three daughters of the late Joseph S. Policelli and Angeline (Zito) Policelli. She and the love of her life William “Bill” Phillips would have celebrated 68 years of blissful marriage on May 25, 2020.
Eva was a 1949 graduate of Bangor High School. She was employed in the garment industry for 35 years in various blouse mills in Roseto, PA. She was also a seasonal employee in the Roseto branch of the Bangor Post Office. She was a lifelong member of the former Roseto Presbyterian Church and the Bangor- Roseto Presbyterian Parish where she served as a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school teacher. Along with her husband, she was a member of the churches “Anchor Club” serving as skippers, first mates, secretaries and chaplains.
In her 25 years as a resident of East Bay Oaks Largo, Florida. Eva was an avid shuffleboard player winning many trophies for the “Friendly League” team. She also was an excellent cribbage player, and an A-1 cherry cheese pie and pineapple upside down cake baker and loved entertaining family and friends.
Eva was a devoted mother to her daughter Angela (Phillips) Herrlinger of Polly Acres North Bangor,PA and loving “Aggie” to grandson William “Will” Herrlinger of Bethlehem, PA.
In addition to her husband, daughter and grandson surviving are a sister Marie (Policelli) Zito; nephews, Alphonso Zito III and his wife Lucille, William James and his wife Kathryn; nieces, Concetta (Zito) Rinker and Susan (James) Williams.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna (Policelli) James; nephew, Robert E. James, her godson and brother in-law Alphonso Zito Jr.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eva's name may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church of the Slate Belt, 332 Kennedy Dr., Bangor, PA 18013.
As per Eva's wishes and due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside memorial service for the immediate family will take place at a later date.
