
Born in Stroudsburg on August 24, 1935, he was a son to the late John and Mary Margaret (Counterman) Strouse. Harold was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
Harold was a carpenter, framer, in the construction industry for over 25 years and also worked as a groundskeeper for the Delaware Water Gap Country Club, Delaware Water Gap; where he retired from in 1995 after 15 years of service.
He enjoyed square dancing, hunting, playing cards and bingo and took great joy in spending time with his children grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Pop was a grandfather to, but more of a father to Michael, Jamie and Alan.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his loving wife of 47 years the former Hannah Ruth Fenical, who passed away on July 20, 2001, brothers, John Strouse, George Staples, Daniel Staples and Floyd Staples sisters, Roseann Harrison, Madalyn Rouck and Glaydis Decker and a grandson, Robert Jason Smith.
Surviving are daughters, Connie Smith of East Stroudsburg, Lila Wilgus and her husband John of Albrightsville, Ruth Ann Counterman and her husband Robert of East Stroudsburg, Eileen Parton and her companion Joseph Michetti of Stroudsburg, Robin Meeker of Stroudsburg; sons, Harold E. Strouse, Jr. and his wife Mary of Cresco, Steven Strouse and his companion Debbie Murphy of East Stroudsburg; brother, Alfred Strouse and his wife Barbara of Stroudsburg;18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; many great-great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with Rev Dr. Edward Kimes pastor of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery, Dreher Ave., Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
