
Born in Pittsburgh, PA; on December 13, 1943, he was a son to the late Frances and Olive (Hughes) Grogan. John graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy, Radnor, PA; Clarion University Clarion, PA; with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA; with a Master’s degree in administration and supervision and earned his PhD also from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Grogan held several administration positions with school districts around the country before obtaining the position of Superintendent of Schools at the East Stroudsburg Area School District, East Stroudsburg in September of 1993. Mr. Grogan retired from that position in September of 2000. During his retirement John enjoyed the game of golf.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife the former Sandra A. (Cole) Grogan who passed away on September 9, 1996, and a brother Jim Grogan.
Surviving is his son, John P. Grogan and his wife Bridget of Pittsburgh, PA; daughters, Molly Grogan of Medford, NJ; and Kathryn (Katie) Grogan of Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Jordan, Haley, and Meghan Grogan, and Grace Dreisbach niece, Carrie Freiert and her husband Jason of Baltimore, MD.
A prayer service will be held on Monday January 28, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc., 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev.Fr. Jeffrey J. Walsh Pastor of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday January 27, 2013 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
