
Raymond was born in East Stroudsburg on September 8, 1924, a son to the late Raymond H. and Florence (Evans) Snyder and resided in the East Stroudsburg area most of his life. He graduated from East Stroudsburg High School, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and served his country in World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned home and worked as a shipping supervisor at Shawnee Press for 29 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 945 and VFW Post 2540. Raymond enjoyed the game of golf winning 16 years of the Shawnee Press Annual Championship, and playing many of the local courses throughout his retirement.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife the former Jean H. Westbrook who passed away on November 10, 2004, two sisters Jean Lupin, and Loraine Armatage, three brothers Edwin, Glen, and Donald Snyder.
Surviving is a daughter Pamela Wooke and her husband Ron, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; and a son Gary T. Snyder and his wife Fay, of Strasburg, PA; one sister Janet Miller and her husband Jake, of Palmerton, PA.; two granddaughters Stacie Pugliese, and Rene Jean Mena, two grandsons Gary T. Snyder II and Steven Wooke, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg, with his Pastor, Rev. Dr. Edward C. Kimes officiating.
