

Adelaide Ida (Pregizer) Petty, longtime resident of Oklahoma City, formally of Philadelphia, PA, died Sunday, March 11, in Oklahoma City. She was born July 8, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA the older of two children of Karl and Ida A. (Kuhnert) Pregizer. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter K. Pregizer and sister-in-law, Shirley (Jones) Pregizer. She married Edgar Lawton Petty August 23, 1950. Adelaide was a Credit Manager for Elliott-Lewis Electric Co (1942-49) and Clerk Engineering and Office Manager at Southwestern-Bell Telephone Co (1951-62). She was a dedicated professional in her work and a devoted wife. Adelaide graduated from Philadelphia public schools in 1939. She had completed her first years in Home Economics at Temple University in Philadelphia as well as a business course at Banks Business College. Adelaide was a devoted member of Heritage Presbyterian Church (PCA). As a youth she was an active member in Christian Endeavor in Philadelphia. She has been a church school teacher and superintendent of church school in the Emmanuel EUB Church in Philadelphia (1940-50). She has been an active lay leader in the churches where she worshipped. She has always been a friendly person desiring to make others feel at home around her. She is survived by her husband, Edgar; three nephews and one niece and their families, Walter T. Pregizer and his wife Karen of Lake Forest, CA, Kenneth K. Pregizer and his wife Karen of Whitehorse Yukon Territory, Canada, David P. Pregizer and his wife, Celia of Perkasie, PA and Karen S. (Petty) Vance and her husband Ivan of Sachse, TX; Fourteen great nieces and nephews, Chad Pregizer and his wife Alita, Meagan Pregizer, Steve Pregizer and his wife, Teresa, Sherry Goldsmith and her husband Benjamin, Kristen Monroe and her husband David, Ashley and Samantha Pregizer, Jonathon, Casey, Megan, Josh, Catilin, Jeremy and Hanna Vance; three great great nephews and nieces, Nathan Karl, Gwenyth Marie Pregizer and Melody. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund; 14500 N. Western Ave. Edmond, OK 73013. Graveside services for Adelaide will be 2:00pm, Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Services will be at a later date.
