Albert Rowe Hurley, aged 84, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024 surrounded by his family. Albert was born on April 9, 1939, in Minco, OK to parents Valton Clay “Charlie” and Marjorie Maureen Hurley. He was a proud resident of Minco and was a 1957 graduate of Minco High School. He attended Central State College where we met and married his wife, Nancy Ann Batty, in 1959.
Albert started his banking career at Liberty Bank in Oklahoma City. From there he held positions at First National Bank of Blackwell, Rogers County Bank in Claremore, and Citizens National Bank in Muskogee. Albert finished his career as the Director of Banking and Treasury Services for the State Treasurer of Oklahoma, retiring in 2005.
Albert loved his career in banking and was well known in the industry for his excellent work and dedication. He also loved his free time at home on Fort Gibson Lake near Wagoner, OK. He spent many days driving his boat out to “the island” and visiting with friends. If he was not on his boat, he likely was riding his lawn mower or checking on meat in the smoker. Albert also loved to read novels, especially those by Tom Clancy and others in the genre. He was a big sports fan and could tell you anything you needed to know about Oklahoma and Notre Dame football. Albert loved to tell stories and share trivia with anyone who would listen. He also loved to share stories about his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and all their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Scott Hurley and wife Nora, daughter Alisa Hurley and husband Jim Ferguson, granddaughters Andrea Cottle and Husband Cade, Katie Ferguson and husband Blair Corbin, and Abby Ferguson, great granddaughters Cadence and Cree Cottle, brother Alvin “Hoot” Hurley and wife Martha, and sister Peggy Boswell and husband Steve. Albert was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Emily Nicole Hurley.
A visitation for Albert will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034.
A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Minco First United Methodist Church, 307 NW Pontotoc St, Minco, OK 73059. Interment will follow to Evergreen Cemetery, Minco,OK
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Lung Association.
