Bette Ann Walters

Bette A. Walters passed away on November 4, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born in McAlester, OK on November 28, 1933 to Marvin and Verona Kennedy. Her family moved to Elk City, OK and she graduated from Elk City High School. Bette met Joe, Jr in Elk City, and they married in 1952. They soon had four children in five years. Bette had a crash course in motherhood, but she accepted it with hard work, discipline, grace and love. Bette and Joe, Jr. celebrated 63 years of marriage before his pass in 2015.

Bette had been a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Edmond since 1965. She sold Avon for over 30 years, and made many friends. She loved gardening, collecting Boyd’s Bears and many antiques, watching all kinds of sports, but truly loved going to her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren school and sporting events.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe, Jr, her daughter Connie, her parents and brother Jerry. She is survived by her children, Cathy Gesell and husband Steve, Cary and wife Kathy, and Chet and wife Janey; Grandchildren: Andrea Dantzler, Allyson Quinlin and husband Joe, Nick Walters and Hannah, Megan Torrence and husband Trevor, Christopher Lee, Michelle Stubenhofen and husband Matt, Chris Walters and wife Stephanie, Lindsay Clark and Steve, Austin Walters and wife Kacey; Great-Grandchildren: Ruby, Dax, Truman, Zion, Gunner, Griffin, Gage, Gannen, Cohen, Sloane and Olivia; sister Judy Jacobs and husband Phil, as well as many other family and friends.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Stone Creek Assisted Living for their compassionate care and love for Bette.

Come-and-go visitation for Bette will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, with a Rosary Service from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the chapel. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S Littler Ave., Edmond, OK 73034, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 North Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
