Charles “Dick” Johns, 77, passed away October 16, 2020. Dick was born October 17, 1942, in New Castle, PA to Lucille Vargo and Julio “Bones” Johns who preceded him in death. He was raised by his grandparents, John and Grace Sankey. Dick graduated from high school in New Wilmington, PA in 1960 and earned his associate’s degree in Accounting from New Castle Business School.

In 1970, Dick started his career with Niles Expanded Metal in Ohio. While he was working at Niles Expanded Metal in Ohio, his children Tim and Shelly Johns were born and in 1979, he and his family moved to Edmond, OK, to work for Chandler Expanded Metal with his lifelong friend, Dale Ketler. He started his first company, AQUABI, where they manufactured hot tubs (spas); and from there he founded Jetta Products, Inc, in Edmond, OK, again manufacturing whirlpool bathtubs, spas, and solid surface countertops for several years. In 2013, he started Baths by Shay in Edmond, OK manufacturing solid surface material.

While at Jetta Products, he met Sharon, never knowing that one day they would fall in love and marry. They were married on November 26, 2004 in Longboat Key, FL, surrounded by their children and grandchild, Jackson. They shared the love of walking the beach, spending time with grandchildren and cherished life and time spent together with family. Dick was very active, coaching softball and basketball and was a mentor to many. He loved his grandchildren, spending time at the beach and playing sports.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Johns; son Tim (Lynn) Johns; daughter Shelly (Adam) Nye; daughter Michelle Cordray; daughter Melissa (Tom) Ramirez; sister Elizabeth “Sis” (John) Ferrel; grandchildren: Jackson, Olivia, Sydney, Natalia, & Lydia.

Words cannot describe what Dick meant to me. He was the finest man I ever had the pleasure of working for. If he had not given me a job when I needed one I don't know how things would have turned out. He always took care of his employees. If it hadn't been for him I would not have met my wife. We all have stories from the years of working for him. One of my favorites, When we bought the 1st Semi for Jetta. We were looking it over and he climbed up behind the wheel, I said " I bet you can't even start it" He proceeded not only to start it but took us for a spin around the block! Dick you will be missed but the lessons you taught us will never be forgotten. Sharon, Shelly, Tim and all you kids you are in my and Nancy's prayers. May God bless you all.

Dick and Sharon always treated me like I was a part of the family. I’ve been best friends with Melissa for many years and have so many fond memories with them. We used to hide candy under her bed in Florida so we could sneak and eat it at night. We weren’t supposed to eat in the bedrooms. One night we found a note from Dick saying “we need to talk” in the candy bag! We were so scared for “the talk” but he loved messing with us! I will never forget his sense of humor. I am deeply saddened by his passing and am praying for peace and comfort over all of his loved ones.

Sharon,Michelle, Melissa, Tim, Shelly and all of the family, We're so very sorry for the loss of Dick. I remember when Dick, Bill Lausen and my dad played softball against Greg back in the the 80's. A lot of fun times with the grandkids birthday parties also. So many sweet memories on the video to remember him by. Big hug's love and prayer's to each of you. Marsha, and Greg and family.

Dick was the most thoughtful, loving and caring, fun man. He loved and spoke so highly of his family and just cherished his Grandkids. Dick and Sharon were so much in love and were truly each others best friend. We will miss him dearly. May He Rest in Peace now and always be in Our Hearts and Prayers. The Porter Family

Dear Tim & Shelley ~ Although I had not seen your dad for years, the memories of he and his Uncle Jack will live on in my memories forever. He would bring your Uncle Jack a wig (since he had very little hair) and they would play pranks -- they scared your Grandma Lucille one day -- oh my was she mad! Anyhow, please know how much he touched our lives and know that our prayers go out to you both and all of your families.

Dick and I worked together for 20 years, from 1981 until 2001. I was a dealer for his Aquabi Spas, The Answer Spa, Jetted Products and finally Jetta Products. We were always in " Hot Water" it seemed. He was ahead of the times with his innovative products. I will miss him and regret not staying in touch.

Dick was not only a friend to me he was a father I never had. I will always remember Dick for who he was and what he has taught me. I would not be where I am if it wasn't for him. He has touched a lot of people's hearts and helped a lot of people out. He showed me to work hard and it will all pay off. Rest easy my friend I know you are in a better place. - Omar Villeda

In the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life “, the teaching moment is ....what would the world be like without Jimmy Stewart? I can’t imagine what the world would have been like without Dick Johns. Over the past 35 years, the laughter, the practical jokes and the mischievous adventures are too numerous to mention, but they enriched my life immeasurably.
But there was another side to Dick.....the thousands of people on his payroll over the years who he supported and the many random acts of generosity to people in need.
Our thoughts go out to Sharon, Melissa, Michelle and the girls, Tim and Shelley and their families, and all of their friends and former employees.
I already miss my friend and think of him often and I choose to picture Dick speeding down the roads of heaven paved with gold in one of his many Corvettes.......racing from the police car he will eternally outrun.
On behalf of Karen, Kaitlin and KC, God’s speed to you Dick.
