Donna Sue Jones, beloved Aunt, loyal friend, and joyful force in the lives of so many, was born on August 5, 1947, and passed away on December 16, 2025. Though she never had children of her own, she embraced her nieces and nephew as if they were her own and in truth, they were. Family was not just important to her; it was everything.
She was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Over the years, she also called Duncan and Aurora (MO); Cameron, (MO), and Holdrege, (NE) home. She graduated from Holdrege High School in 1965, beginning a life marked by independence, curiosity, and connection.
Donna attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln starting in the Fall of 1965 and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity (Sorority), Beta Eta Chapter. She most recently received her 50 -year pin from the national chapter.
She spent much of her adult life in Oakland and San Leandro, California, where she worked as an Executive Administrative Assistant and office manager. She built lifelong friendships marked by fierce loyalty, laughter, and mutual care. To her friends, she was family. To her family, she was a constant at showing up, hosting gatherings, remembering details, and making sure everyone felt welcomed, included, and loved.
Later in life, she returned to Edmond, Oklahoma, where she devoted herself to family gatherings, church life, and friendships old and new.
She had a playful spirit and a sharp wit. She loved jokes, games, reading, crossword puzzles, square dancing, and travel. She adored her pets, Missy, Willie, and Millie, and spoke of them with the same affection she extended to the people she loved. She was fun to be around, quick to laugh, and always ready with a story or a smile.
Her strength was remarkable. Over the course of 20 years, she bravely faced and survived five different cancers. Along the way, she became deeply committed to cancer support communities, particularly Tenaciously Teal (Ovarian Cancer) and Hope in Oklahoma (Breast Cancer). She offered encouragement, understanding, and hope to others walking difficult paths—often while quietly carrying her own.
Later in life, she committed herself to the Catholic faith and became deeply devoted to her church. She was active in Bible studies, participated faithfully in church life, and found great joy in her book club and spiritual community.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Troy Lee Jones and Edna Jean Poole Jones and her brother, Calvin Lee Jones.
She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephew:
Sherri Lynn Jones Parks and her husband Robert (Milford, NE), and their children Dainton Parks (wife Whitney), Brianna Dittmer (husband Clancy), and Dillon Parks;
Brian Lee Jones and his wife Sofia (Edmond, OK), and their children Monique Schonsheck (husband Tyler), Devon Jones, and Drake Jones;

Lindsay Jones Raspberry and her husband Bobby (Wichita, KS), and their sons Robby and Reide;

She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and close family friends whose lives are richer for having known her.
