On Friday, May 9th, Edmond V. Jones Jr. of Guthrie, OK, joined his mom and beloved dogs, Bubba, Queen and many more, in heaven after a short battle with cancer. Ed was born January 11, 1954 to Edmond and Betty Jones Sr. in Oklahoma City, OK. He had a passion for cooking amazing food. His gravy was unmatched and he was always in charge for the Thanksgiving meal. He was a collector of stuff. He would come home with "finds" off the street that were seemingly no good and he would make them useful again...sometimes! When Ed was little, he was helping his dad mow the yard with his toy lawnmower. He replicated the sound of the lawnmower in his pretend play and it just stuck. It was a mindless hum we all knew, sometimes annoyingly but usually it was just a part of Ed. That sound will be missed in our lives. Anyone who knew Ed knew he loved hard. He loved his family, he loved his beer, and he loved animals. Ed was dedicated to helping rescue and transport dogs all over the state. He devoted many hours to this cause. Ed is survived by his wife LaDena (DeeDee); daughter Nicole, her husband Ray, and children Logan and Megan of Edmond, OK; son Cole, his wife Michelle, and children Makayla, Rachel, Chandler, and Zander of Arlington, TX; daughter Nicole, her husband Dirk Weaverling and son Eli of Midland, TX; and daughter Alexis of Arlington, TX. He also leaves behind several other family members in Oklahoma and Texas as well as his beloved dogs, including Biscuit. Services will be held today, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Woodcrest Baptist Church, 11300 S. Douglas, Guthrie, OK at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be sent to your local animal sanctuary, rescue or group in Ed's honor.
