Inez "Kathy" O'Brien

Inez Katherine “Kathy” O’Brien, 88, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, November 13, 2023 in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born December 12, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wesley and Katherine Bonham. Kathy grew up and finished high school and soon met the love of her life Pete O’Brien and married in 1956.

Kathy lived in Kansas, California, Texas, and Colorado before moving back to Oklahoma in 1979. Kathy was an amazing mother to six children and a great grandma to her grandchildren. As her children say “she raised six kids and none of them are in prison”. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, dancing, watching football or basketball games, and listening to soft rock pop. Kathy was a member of the Solo Club at the Mac Senior Center.

Kathy is preceded in death by her husband Pete O’Brien; son Les O’Brien; both of her parents Wesley and Katherine Bonham; and her brother Hillary Bonham and wife Doris.

She is survived by her children Lettie Kay Dougherty and husband Tom, Sean O’Brien and wife Melinda, Jim O’Brien and wife Heather, Joe O’Brien, and Elizabeth Swonger and husband Tim; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration service for Kathy will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Britton Christian Church, 922 NW 91st St, Oklahoma City, OK 73144. Flowers will need to be delivered to the church please.
