Aunt Irene, as I called her, was a part of my life since I was born in August of 1951.  She and Bill lived with my grandma, Lillian Wolfe for a short time and they were dear to all of my family, but especially to me, as the only girl.  Irene taught me how to cook and I remember my first lesson was fried chicken, hand cut French fries and strawberry shortcake. Ummm!  We spent many hours in the church kitchen and at family gatherings.  Her beautiful smile,hugs and graceful presence will be missed by many here in Minnesota, but none more than me.  I have used my cooking skills that I received from Irene to work in the schools and even a fraternity and passed them on to many.  Her spirit is eternally here with me and our family.  May you find comfort in knowing how full her life was on this earth as her journey continues in god's love.

Aunt Irene, I have so many cherished memories of you, and am so grateful for your consistency in keeping contact over the years.  You are an amazing woman, and an inspiration to all.  You will forever be a bright light in our lives, we love you!!!

I met Irene when my husband and I, Bob and Betty Porter, were newlyweds  1947-50 attending the Uni of Minn. and working She had a delighgtful smile ,was in contact about her through her relative Marguerite Ferguson, I am retiring to Tulsa Ok in late August would like to meet more of the family.

It was an honor to meet this lovely woman at Markie's name giving ceremony in Linda McDaniel's yard some few years ago. That day was a joyeous day!

Anyone who ever has met Irene Shuster was indeed touched by her smile, kindness, loving spirit & so much more. Even though she was limited physically for awhile, her spirit shine & she touched so many people. I have been blessed to know. & to have been loved by her. My prayer are for her family-Markie, Terry McCoy, Allysha, & so many more. God be with each one of y'all.

This is Marshall Harrell, and I was her foster-grandchild.  I lived with Markie & her husband Terry McCoy from 1992-1994. I knew Irene Shuster as Grandma Shuster.  She was most definitely a kind and gracious woman--and very thoughtful.  She passed those qualities along to Markie.  Markie made sure her own foster children worked on those attributes as well.

I most fondly remember Grandma Shuster's gentle spirit, sharp wit, and zest for cooking.  I remember she would, as I call it, "slave" away in the kitchen for what seemed all day to create a masterpiece meal when she would make her trips to Oklahoma.  She was kind of like Julia Child for the family it seemed to me!  I always enjoyed seeing the Shusters. She and Grandpa Shuster were a fun couple, too--very sweet to each other. 

Grandma Shuster will be missed.  Thank God for her life and love for others!
