

James was born in Harrah OK to Gean and Louis Mears, He attended Jones HS, OSU and UCLA. Poppy was a lover of life who made an impression on everyone he met. He had many interests, including reading, travelling, art, sailing, playing with his grandkids and bringing a joie de vivre to the world that will be missed.
Jim was on the OKC Fire Department for 24 years and was a first responder to the Murrah Bombing, for which he received 2 Congressional Medals of Honor. After retiring, he moved to Lazy J Ranch in Mulhall where he began another successful adventure by reviving Lucille’s Restaurant.
Jim was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner for 38 years, a member of the OKC Boat Club and a member of the Mulhall United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Mears, his daughters Kimberly Porcheddu and husband Douglas, Heather Woodard and son-in-law Russell, Jamie Gross and husband Taylor and Cassie Schoshke, his siblings Beverly Wickizer, Donny Mears and wife Kay, Tina James and husband Rick, and the joys of his life, his grandchildren Sara Porcheddu, Nick Porcheddu, Luke Woodard and Cory Gross as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home on Monday, March 21st at 10am.
