Marshall Ray Greenlee, 78, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was born March 2, 1944, in Chandler, Oklahoma to parents Riley and Edna Greenlee. Marshall passed from this life to his home with God on May 18, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Marshall graduated from Luther High School in 1962. He was the baby brother to his sister, Roxey, and attended Luther Schools, where his mother, Edna, was the Head Cook. While attending the University of Central Oklahoma, he met his soon-to-be wife and love of his life, Jenielle Rosamond. They were happily married July 31, 1965 at East Main Church of Christ. In 1968, they welcomed a son, Monty. They made their home in Luther, Oklahoma before moving to Edmond in 1987.
Marshall was active in many activities while in High School including Varsity Football and FFA. After returning to Luther with his new family, Marshall became involved with the Luther JCs. Every summer, He, Jenielle, and Monty were always a part of the Luther JC’s group and their famed lake trips. He even turned an old bread truck into the legendary “Luther Hilton” lake camper. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when he was able to do so with his son.
Marshall was an avid supporter of the Luther FFA and Football programs. He, Jenielle and Monty raised show pigs while Monty was in 4-H and FFA, and they took countless trips together as a family for livestock shows and sales. Marshall also volunteered as a Pee Wee football coach with his lifetime friend, John Tytenicz. They took a bunch of 3rd and 4th Graders and turned them into football players, some eventually even went on to play in college.
Above all, Marshall loved his family. Almost all of their summer vacations centered around going to visit his sister, Roxey, and her family in Phoenix and, later, San Antonio. Marshall was so very proud of his son Monty. He grew up with a strong work ethic, graduating from Luther high school, and earned his Bachelors from Oklahoma State, where he played football for the Cowboys, and a Master’s degree from Florida State. In 1996, they welcomed Katlyn Summers to the family as she and Monty were married in Oklahoma City.
In 2001, Katlyn and Monty had a beautiful baby boy, Malichi, and Marshall, or, as he would now be called: "G-PA", was over the moon proud. In 2005 Katlyn and Monty were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Grace Ella “GiGi” Greenlee, and she immediately won her G-Pa’s heart.
Marshall and Jenielle did everything together and shared many hobbies, including motorcycling, watching OU and OSU games, usually having a tailgate party either at their house or one of their friends. But watching their granddaughter play volleyball and their grandson play his music were truly their greatest joys.
He loved animals, especially dogs. He and Jenielle had several dogs over the years; their latest were their French Bulldogs, Joey and Avery, who they doted over like children. He enjoyed going out to eat with their dinner groups, and loved travelling, spending time in Mexico with close friends, or visiting Monty, Katlyn, Malichi and GiGi in Arizona. He and Jenielle were avid motorcycle riders for a time and took several road trips with friends. He also loved to go to the movies. Marshall and Jenielle were active members of New Covenant United Methodist Church, where He and Jenielle attended faithfully. They hosted a small group, the Owls, and were involved in many other activities there, as well.
Marshall served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1969. He worked as a truck driver early in his life, a supervisor at Continental Plastics, and retired as a Lab Works Technician at Bethany Warr-Acres Public Works Authority.
Marshall was preceded in death by his wife and soulmate, Jenielle; parents, Riley and Edna Greenlee; brother-in-law, Bill Butler; and lifelong friend, Leroy Cook.
Marshall is survived by their son, Monty and his wife Katlyn; grandson, Malichi; granddaughter, GiGi; sister, Roxey Butler of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Lorna Bowen and her husband Robert of Shawnee, OK; nieces: Karla, Kim, and Melanie; nephews: Grant, James, Chris, and Randy; great-nieces: Shelby and Brooklyn; great-great niece, Ava; and many of other relatives and dear friends.
