

Michael was born in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1951 to Richard M. Hunter Sr. and Iva Rose Taylor Hawzipta Hunter. He graduated from Anadarko High School in 1970 before attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. In 1971, while attending university in Weatherford, he met his beloved wife Carolyn Hladik Hunter. They were married, and together joined the Navy in 1974. Michael completed 4 years of active duty service during the Vietnam Era, after which he and Carolyn returned to Oklahoma.
Michael graduated from Central State University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in 1979, followed by a Master’s of Business Administration in 1981, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science in 1982. Michael and Carolyn raised four children while Michael worked for 25 years as a computer systems analyst at OG&E. During this time, he also served in the Navy Reserves from 1990 until 2000. He was a member of the Western Delaware Lenape Nation of Oklahoma, and was honored to serve as the vice chairman for about two years. He was also a descendent of the Kiowa and Caddo Tribes. Michael was a man of faith who lived his life with a heart for serving others. He filled many roles through the years, including donating countless gallons of blood products and giving of his time and talents to the local Boy Scout Troop, Metropolitan Library System, and The United Way, among many other things. First and foremost, he was devoted to his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Richard M. Hunter Sr. and mother Iva Rose Taylor Hawzipta Hunter; brothers, Richard Hunter Jr., Dennis Hunter (Army Veteran- Vietnam War) and Leon Keith Hunter (Marine Veteran- Vietnam War); sisters, Carol Jean Ware and Teresa Kay Hunter.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Hladik Hunter; son, Brock Hunter and granddaughter Anna; daughter, Katrine Hunter Fulmer and significant other Anthony, grandchildren Neal and significant other Ashlie and great grandson Boston, Kirsten and husband Brandon, Diana, Michael, and Katey; son, Joseph Hunter and grandchildren Dennis, Cari, and Alec; daughter, Kayla Hunter and grandchildren Rose, Ande, and Serenity; brothers, James Dean Hunter (Marine Veteran- Vietnam War) of Oklahoma City, Terry Hunter and wife Sharon of Anadarko, Robert Alexander of Burns Flat; sisters, Gayla Ahtone of Ardmore, Judith Hunter and husband Terry Ware of Anadarko, and Karla Forbes of Semmes, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Michael will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. A rosary service will occur Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian services will occur Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S. Littler Ave, Edmond, OK 73034. The service will not be livestreamed.
