She was the oldest of four girls. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette LA in 1960. During her last semester of college she met the love of her life, F. Taylor LaSalle, who was also attending the University. Sally and Taylor spent over 50 years of their married life in Metairie, Louisiana, where they raised their three children, became very involved at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and made many life long friends. Sally spent over 20 years of her working career as the administrative assistant to the President of Archbishop Chapelle High School in Metairie, Louisiana.
Sally’s faith was the most important part of her life and she worked and prayed hard to instill that in her family. Sally was a perpetually professed member of the Holy Family Institute. She and Taylor were also awarded The Order of St. Louis IX Medallion for their significant contributions to their church in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Sally’s greatest joy was her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. After the children were grown, she helped her husband Taylor in their rose garden and delivered fresh cut roses to her friends on a regular basis. Sally always had a smile on her face, and everyone she encountered loved her joy for life. Sally’s husband Taylor noted on a number of occasions that he was very fortunate that he married the most beautiful and caring woman that he has ever met. Sally’s memory will forever be treasured by all who knew her. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on the many lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Irene McCloskey Jenkins.
Sally is survived by her husband of 63 years, F. Taylor LaSalle and three children, Patrick Francis LaSalle (Brenda) of Baton Rouge LA, Ann LaSalle Lyon (George) of Lake Forest, IL, and Mary LaSalle Smail (Jeff) of Edmond, OK.
