Hap and I were extremely close friends. I say this to lend credibility to what I am about to say. We were such close friends we traveled to Los Angeles and Hollywood for a vacation.  We met as we were both associate ministers at a church in the 1980s. Hap was 29 years older but we were like brothers.  The main contribution I can make towards his character was the great sacrifice he made for me after my fall from the ministry in 1993. I was completely lost in life, for I had lost my identity and occupation suddenly on February 15th, 1993.  It was devastating. Hap and I had met in the early 80s as co-workers but now the Friendship took a new meaning. I needed his support and his ability to inspire hope in people. I have known thousands of people in my life. My father was a Methodist Minister for 45 years and since the age of eight I was captivated by the whole matter of ministry and the whole public constitution of the call and execution of being a minister. I became a talented person with people because of how I was raised. But suddenly in 1993 everything was gone and it was all due to my fault. So I hope some member of his family is reading this, because there is no one on earth Hap helped more than me. And if he did, it would be rather incredible. He was steadfast in his friendship and he gave a lot more than he received. I will never forget him and always cherish our close times together, including our wall excursion to Las Angeles and Hollywood. But I am telling you the truth,  that he actually kept me together  when life was closing in and falling apart. Hap is a credit to who we are as human beings. There is no doubt in my mind, God is so proud of the child he made in Hap.

Hap became a special Brother in Christ to me when he served as a Volunteer at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.  He worked with me in the Chaplain's office and was a great blessing to all the patient's he visited.  Just a couple days before we learned of his entry into Heaven, a former patient and her daughter, came to OHH to look him up.  He blessed their lives richly.  The young daughter called him "an angel".  His prayers gave them such comfort and support.  To God be the Glory for dear Hap.  "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Hap was a dear friend, an exemplary soldier and a devout disciple of the Lord.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  Bob and June Rigney

Please accept our sincere condolences to the whole family. As some know me and some maybe not but my late grandparents were ken and Marilyn harris from sioux city iowa. As I know this is going to be a tough time I remember the fishing story that he told at my grandfathers funeral. Just to know that they are together again playing cards or fishing with the lord is something that I will remember forever.  Please keep in touch as I will be praying for you all.
