There are many ways to show someone that you care for them.  In this world, we have to realize who cares for us and who doesn't and you were always there showing us that you cared in your own way.  Regardless of what you were doing or what I had said to bother you before, any time that I needed help with something you were there.  Whether it was somehow deleting part of Windows off my computer or my motorcycle breaking down, you would always find time to fix what I had done.  You always used your talents and hobbies to help us out as much as you could and worked to pass off as much information as you could so that Chad and I would be able to do things on our own in the future.  You helped push us to better ourselves in life.  You and mom did everything you could to give us as many opportunities as you could so that we could live a life where we would have less struggles than you two had.  I'll never forget all the work that you put in for us while you were spending countless hours of overtime and the additional hours fixing or updating things around the house or in the workshop.  As time passed, I learned more and more about how much I am like you.  It took me quite some time to realize that and our many arguments and fights seemed to make a little more sense knowing that I am a smaller version on you.  How you learn is how I learn. The amount of people you consider friends were few, but genuine. The way in which you executed projects and completed work was with complete precision as everything had to look as close to perfect as humanly possible and you refused to stop until trying several times to achieve near perfection with everything you started.  You may not have said much at times and didn't say that you loved me until after I left for basic training, but I know that your actions were your way of saying that you loved me.  No one that didn't would have spent so much time fixing the mistakes of the other and putting cars and motorcycles together for them.  You used your talents and gifts to help us have vehicles that were running properly so that you knew that we were safe when we were away from home.  There are so many things still to come in my life that I wanted you to be a part of that I have to find a way to go through them without you.  I will never get to have my father-daughter dance at my wedding or get to hand your grandchild to you to hold.  I know that mom will do her best to help Chad and I through these big events, but she will need help during them too because each one will remind her of the same thing that we will be reminded; that you are no longer with us physically.  Even though you won't be with us physically, you will always be with us in our heart and in our memories.  Your memory will never die while there is still breathe in me; those important to me will know of you and will see things that you had time to build and work on and will know how you influenced my life to always strive for the best and to follow my dreams.  Your memory will live on in those that love you and didn't want to let you go because we will not stop talking about you.  Until we see each other again, I love you, dad.

Earl and I worked together for a few years, and Tammy too, at the 3rd Combat Comm at Tinker AFB.  Earl was fun to work with during our planning meetings.   He really knew his stuff which made our several training missions successful.   We both retired the same year and went to work for wireless companies.  He went to ATT Wireless and i went to SW Bell Wireless.   Through the years we worked together time and again and eventually the companies merged.  Earl taught through his example of professionalism and thoroughness.   He touched many lives in many ways and always with the intention of making things better.   I was deeply saddened by his passing.   I am comforted knowing our present life is only a brief part of our eternal destiny.   I wish his wife Tammy and his beautiful children who honor him with their own service and sacrifice to our country, the peace of Jesus.

Earl was a husband, a father, a patriot, and a volunteer in the community. With all of this in his life he did an outstanding job in being all of those individuals. He was always devoted to each task that he was assigned to or choose to take on and each task was always completed without fault. He was a quiet man but always got his message or point out to his family and co-workers. He was a man never worried about himself cared about others. He was a great simple man that will be missed dearly by his wife, children, family, friends, and co-workers.

When I first met Mr. Crawford I was but a child with a childish perspective on the world and thought he was brash. However, two short years later I saw how wrong I was. Mr. Crawford, was an amazingly smart guy with a big heart who would not turn someone away when he could help.  I watched as he gave up his time and knowledge to help me in fixing my car.  I found he had so much knowledge that he was trying to bestow upon myself ( a very lost and confused teen) and his children ( also confused teens)  and we just were not yet mature enough to understand and/or appreciate what he was doing.  I am forever greatful for all the stuff he put up with from us as teens.  Now that I had two little ones of my own I think back on the little nuggets Mr. Crawford was trying to get through our thick skulls.  I can only hope I am half as wise with my kids as he was to us.  I know I am a little late but I want to say thank you.  Thank you for being you.

Here's to all the advice, smart aleck comments and good times spent talking shop or working on projects. Im sure we'll all get together and do it again sometime!

Tammy, I was always in a bit of awe for how you and Earl were able to shine in an extremely demanding career as Widebanders and still thrive both personally and professionally. Both of you were pretty special people, together you were exceptional. The first time I met Earl way back when you first came to the Herd, I was talking with the new guy and kept calling him Willem and William. He had finally had about all he could stand and impatiently demanded of me, his new boss, "Who the hell is this Willem you're talking about". I knew right then and there that Earl (as he proceeded to tell me was his name)would never leave you wondering how he really felt about something. You would always get it straight and with both barrels if needed. That among his many other fine qualities made him a trusted friend for the rest of the time I knew him. May God Bless you and comfort you.

Earl, I wanted to thank you for loving me unconditionally, you were my soul mate and my best friend. I remember the first time I saw you at the fair. You were the kind of guy I wanted to marry and I did 3 years later and I loved being your wife for over 37 years. We had good times and bad times, like everyone, I remember all of them and will cherish them forever. 
I will not forget the surprises you would put in my purse, computer bag or suitcase, the golf ball, stress ball or plastic egg that you would hide when I was not looking. Then you would send a text message asking how I was doing. These items would remind me that you were thinking of me and loved me and you wanted to make sure I knew you were thinking of me while I was gone. I miss those surprises. 
I will miss your smile, your kindness, your unique and wonderful sense of humour. We had many wonderful vacations spending time with the kids or family, relaxing doing nothing, your favorite, or visiting a theme park somewhere. You were always there to fix whatever someone broke, wither it was a computer, a car, a motorcycle or something around the house, you could fix it and that was one thing that I loved about you. You would and could fix anything. You were my handy man, the family mechanic and IT department. I will miss your talents and wisdom on everything. 
You left a great legacy; you were a mentor and great example to your kids and anyone that you were around for more than 5 minutes. You had a great work ethic that was beyond the job, you gave 120% in all you did and you expected perfection in everything, not just for you but others around you, which is an awesome legacy that will not be forgotten. I am still striving to live up to your expectations and will remember your standards always. You loved your country and that showed by your 20+ year of service. I was honored to serve with you. For many years we served side by side, we had so much fun in those days, as we travelled, exploring and served our country in the US and abroad. You always said service before self and I understood that, since I was servicing with you.      
I loved our walks that you, Sasha and I would take. We talked about our day, family, goals, the future or whatever would come up. I miss that time together. I want to thank you for allowing me to be me while also being your wife, you always stood behind me when I wanted to take on any adventure whatever that might be, you were always there to support Chad, Andrea and family. You were an example to follow by your strong actions, a wonderful teacher and father to our Chad and Andrea. We were a great team and I miss my partner. 
You were there as a strong arm to lean upon, a tender shoulder to cry upon, a patient ear to sound upon, a firm chest to rest upon, a loving heart to rely upon and a rock to come home to. You are missed dearly; I will never forget all the years we spent together, our dreams of the future together and I am so thankful for all of them.  Earl I Love you and always will, Your loving wife

I originally wasn't going to write anything. It's not easy to put into words how you feel about someone you have lost. How does a person know what to say? What stories should be told? How can a person be put down on paper in a way to convey to others who they were? I'm not sure, but I'll do my best. 
One morning as I was lying in bed I decided I wanted to do something. Only problem is I wasn't sure if everyone would understand what I was doing or what it means. I want to continue a tradition that has been going on for years. I don't know when it started, where it started or how it started. For those that have seen the movie Act of Valor or American Sniper then I'm sure you have seen the men putting their SEAL warfare device in the outside of the casket. I have been to other funerals and seen groups other than SEALs do the same thing. There is no definitive answer as to why this is done, at least none that I've found. What I have found and seen from others as they carry out this tradition is Comradery, Respect, Honor and Thanks. I'm sure there are many other reason but those are the ones that stand out to me. These are also some lessons my father taught me in life.
Comradery, A closeness, a brotherhood, a friendship. When I was in boy scouts the other boys would tell me how cool and fun my dad was. I always wondered where that guy was when I went home. To be fair I did mess up more than a few times over the years but I wouldn't trade any of those blunders for anything. Among some of those life lessons I wrecked a few vehicles learning how to drive and ride motorcycles. From those accidents I got to learn a lot. Not just about how to work on cars, or how to not look at the ditch I didn't want to crash into but, I got to learn about my dad and spent time with him. We would spend more days and nights working on things then I will ever be able to count. We didn't always talk about much but that didn't matter. I enjoyed the time together.
Respect. Respect was one thing my dad always made sure to teach. Respect your parents, respect your elders, and respect a person's rank, even if you don't respect them. One day after I had moved out and was going to college I went over to visit my parents. Truth be told I probably needed help with something. At one point it was just him and I in the room. I told him how it felt like he had been treating me differently, in a good way but different and I couldn't figure out what was going on. He looked at me and said, "You're not a child anymore. I can't treat you like one." My perception of respect changed that day. I knew I had my father's respect, and that made me respect him even more. 
Honor, Webster defines honor in one way as "high moral standards of behavior." I remember when I was little and I would do or say something and I would get in trouble. Before I was old enough to really know what was right or wrong my father was guiding me to be an honorable man like him. Always setting the good example and never a hypocrite and always holding me to a higher standard than what I held myself to. Honor has a few different meanings though. Today we give honor in remembrance. 
Thanks, Then men and women I've seen carry out this tradition in the past gave thanks for the fallen's sacrifice. I know traditionally this is done for service members that have died in the line of duty. I would still like to give thanks. Thanks for years of service, for the time spent with me, all the lessons, the sacrifices made and opportunities that came from them, for raising me to be the man I am, the list is endless. Thank you for being my friend, my role model, my enforcer, my protector, my teacher, my coach, most of all my father.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

 Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
 Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not  be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Tammy I am so sorry for your loss. He was taken from you far too early. Connie and I met you both in tech school in preparation for our upcoming assignment in England. I'm not real sure if Earl and I hit it off right away but soon became friends. He kindled a competitive spirit in me and I still credit him for my advancement while in the service. I am proud of the great team we made at Greenham all the while still remaining friends off duty and even after you both moved to the other side of England. I remember working with him on his Silver Wing and I always admired his Fiat Spider. Every time I see one I think of him. RIP my friend..

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Hugs and my deepest sympathies to your family. We'll keep you in our prayers.

I really like working with Earl over the past 14 years.  He was extremely smart and good at his job.  He also had some habits we liked poking fun at. He couldn't stand for things to be out of place or left dirty.  I remember putting a popcorn kernel on the floor of the office and took bets on how long he could stand to see it when he walked into the room.  I think he was in the room about 10 seconds before he picked it up.  Miss you Earl!!!

I worked with Earl for the past 15 years. He was a great co-worker and friend. He was always there if you needed help. If he didn't know the answer he would find the answer. I have so many memories of him making me laugh and driving me crazy. He would get mad at me for taking my car to the car wash instead of washing it by hand. He would call me little girl, just because he knew it would get under my skin. Make fun of me for all the running I do, telling me "you are just like my wife, crazy" but at the same time you could hear the pride in his voice as he talked about all the marathons Tammy ran in. He let me drive whenever we had to do site visits, because he knew I would get car sick if I had to run the computer. He would shake his head at our adventures because something would always happen when I drove. Like when I tried to save him with the mom arm, or the time I accidentally squealed the mini van tires after being stopped for a funeral procession. I have so many memories that I will always treasure. 
 Tammy, Chad, and Andrea he loved you guys and was so proud of you. He showed off you marathon medals, and your body building pictures, your military accomplishments, even your wrecked cars. He would complain about having to rebuild a car, but you could tell how much he enjoyed rebuilding them together. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys. I hope your memories of him will help ease the pain of loss.

From the time that I've known Earl he has always been willing to help and support others. He had his own ways of doing it, which I referred to as Earlness. One day I get an email that simply said Go away. It was Earl helping me to stay on vacation and not work while I was supposed to be off. I know we shared a smile with my response and I logged off. I always enjoyed talking guns with Earl amongst other things. He was a wealth of knowledge and I was always honored to speak with him. He was a great man and will continue to be missed.

I enjoyed working with Earl the last 12 years. He was a hard worker who did his best to find solutions to problems. His family was important to him and he talked about them all the time. He was always willing to help me when needed. He will be missed.

Tammy, my prayers are with you and the family.  I pray daily for God to wrap you all in his arms and heal your hearts. I know Earl was your bestest friend and soulmate. Lean on God and he will get us through. May God richly bless you and the family during this time and always.

Uncle Earl my greatest memory is going to get  the old 914 in Maryville.    We had a great time that day a lot of blood sweat and tears to get that old car. Tammy, Chad and Andrea love you all.

We are sorry to hear about the passing of such a nice guy. Our two boys were in the scouts with Chad. Earl was one of the leaders. He a wonderful scout leader. He was very knowledgable, caring person. We have many fond memories if those times in scouts ! We were blessed to know him. Prayers for comfort are being said for Tammy and the family.

Tammy - I just recently heard the news and am so sorry for your loss. Earl had such a great sense of humor and was always fun to talk to. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Andrea and Chad. May you each find peace in knowing that he is no longer suffering. God bless.

Tammy, Chad, and Andrea, I was stunned to hear of Earl's passing. I had just seen him and he seemed so happy and full of life. He was always someone I enjoyed talking with, I will miss our conversations.  He always kept me up  to date on your careers. Earl was very proud of you. He was a great guy, as smart as they come. Your family will be in our prayers.

Earl was a great husband, father, and friend, any time I talked to Tammy on the phone Earl was always bugging her about who she was talking to.  I always told Tammy to tell Earl I loved him, too.  He was the kind of guy that was there to answer any question, he had an answer.  We enjoyed having Tammy and her family stay with us any time they came home (Clinton). Earl was always a gentleman, kind, and didn't want any one to go out of their way to do for him.  We traveled to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving to check on how Earl and the kids were doing, I think Tammy was in Korea, Earl was handling Chad and Andrea just fine.  The last time Earl stayed with us we like to have never gotten him to go out to eat with us.  Earl will truly be missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I really enjoyed working with Earl the past 10 years. He always helped me when I had a question about anything and everything, usually cars. The office isn't the same without him. He is missed.

Tammy, Andrea, and Chad, we are so sorry for your loss. I have been thinking about what to share and say for a week now and I keep coming back to the simple facts: Earl was truly a great individual, smart, caring (sometimes showed it in his own funny way, but we all knew it), and he truly was always willing to help. He seemed to be able to bring out the best in people whether they liked it or not. My oldest son is an Eagle Scout because of Earl, and Larry Teel's commitment to the boys of Troop 116, and for that I will be forever grateful. Earl will be sorely missed by all. I got to know Earl back in 2000 when after getting to know Tammy at At&t I discovered he was interested in an opening for a Network Performance engineering role. Soon after, I hired him to be an engineer where I was his boss until 2005. I got to know Earl and Tammy quite well. Earl was a quick study and I found him to always be on top of his game. He was a great addition to the team  and I had a great admiration for his depth of knowledge, skills and tenacity. To me it certainly seemed he was a natural and I hope in some small way I helped him find his second career.
To Tammy and his family you are in my prayers at this difficult time and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Earl was the greatest big brother and easily the smartest person I've ever known. Regardless of the question he always had the answer.

As Earl's little sister, one of my favorite memories is when we were little and our parents dropped us off at the Capital Theater in Maryville to see The Song of the South. After buying our tickets we only had enough money to buy a pickle. Since he didn't have a pocket knife, Earl bit the pickle into 3 equal pieces to share with Zelda and me.

One of my proudest memories of Earl was when he was junior in high school. He was in the marching band and practiced 3-4 days per week in addition to working part time for a judge at the courthouse. His grandfather (my father) suddenly had a series of stroke that left him unable to walk or even sit up. Without physical therapy at home he wouldn't be able to leave the hospital.  Upon hearing this news, Earl was determined to help. 
In addition to his already hectic schedule, Earl worked 7 days per week providing physical therapy to his ailing grandfather. He never once complained about being tired and within 6 weeks his hard work paid off.  His grandfather was walking and as physically active as before the strokes. 
This is just one proud example of Earl's selflessness and devotion to help others.

My big brother. I have said those words a thousand times, always with pride. He thought me so much growing up. How to drive a stick shift, to love all things sci- fi. He was one of a kind and I'm glad I got to call him mine.

Remembering Earl I think of a man who was real.  If you had a thought or question to run by Earl he would always give you something real in reply.  Working with Earl for the past 15 years was never a dull moment.  He was so smart and just knew almost anything about everything. I do miss him, my deepest sympathy go to you Tammy, your family and friends. You are in my prayers.

Earl wasn't only a co-worker, he was a friend. I'll remember our calls, some late at night, when we were driving home or between sites. We talked about so many  things other than the job. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tammy and his family.

We are so very sorry to hear of you and your families loss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. Praying the Lord's comfort and peace for each of you.

Earl was the ultimate team member.  He always did whatever was necessary to complete a job, and you could always depend on Earl to make sure it was done right!  I always loved my chats with Earl on my trips to OKC.  If I could count on one thing, it was that I was going to get the honest, sometimes brutal, truth from Earl.  If things weren't going well, or a policy was causing issues, Earl was going to let me have it.  I loved that and respected his opinions.  I will always cherish the visit when Earl presented me with a coin from his Air Force unit.  Being an ex Army guy, it came with a few choice comments.  I have it here in my desk at work and will think of Earl every time I see it.

I remember him always with his Sasha! He loved her as one of the kids. He was also always in the shop working on something. Helping one of the kids work on their things. Him working on one of his things. He was a great man, and will be very missed!

Earl was always my go to guy when we were in Troop 116 at Tinker. He knew no limits when it came to taking care of the Scouts and gave 100% to any task. Even after he retired from the Air Force the Troop felt his influence. A humorous story comes to mind, when the 3rd Herd was decommissioning, I got a call one day asking where I wanted my tents delivered to for storage. This was years after Earl had retired and I found out that some how I was the recipient of two new  GP medium tents and a new GP small tent. I was told that MSgt. Crawford had arranged for them to be turned over to me for the troop.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to accept them and they got sent to DRMO for reuse.  Earl touched our lives in a special way and made them better. I look forward to seeing him again one day in a better place.

It was an honor and a pleasure to work with Earl. He was the best at whatever he was doing and was always generous with his time and support. May the gentle warmth of memories heal your heart and bring you peace.

Earl was a pleasure to work with.  I supported his IT needs at AT&T and he never came right out and asked for help.  If he needed something he would hint at a potential problem hoping to get just the right bit of advice to resolve the problem himself.  He was a funny guy and I enjoyed our conversations.

I'm so sorry to hear.  If I can help in any way, don't hesitate to ask. 

Earl was the Master of modifying the inside of the TRC-170 (V)2 for maximum creature comfort.  He was a  great inspiration with his superior knowledge.   He will be greatly missed.

I remember a young Earl stealing my lifelong girlfriends heart and taking her off to join the Air Force.Keeping up with them thru letters and visits home to Tennessee.As they are moving around the globe.building a family,staying busy,in school,always training,deployed here and there.him,then her,I could hardly keep up with it.finally settling in Oklahoma.I am blessed I was close to Tammy and Earl  during the 7 years I lived in Oklahoma.in any situation Earl could find some humor.I hope his friends keep sharing his shenanigans with Tammy.She will treasure all these memories l.love and pray for Tammy,Andrea and Chad.that their hearts will be full of laughter and life and love.until they join the day they join Earl..

I am deeply saddened by the news of Earl's passing.  My heart is heavy as I fondly remember 'MSGT Crawford'  from my Airman days at the 31st CCS. Earl will truly be missed. Please accept my sincere  condolences to you and your family.

Words simply cannot express the combination of gratitude and sorrow felt as I type; Earl had an undeniably profound impact on my life and my career which I will forever be grateful for.  I know that Earl is looking upon me now -- smiling -- as I attempt to write an uncharacteristically short post; my sincerest thanks -- to my partner in crime on many projects -- for his wisdom, honesty, selflessness, advice, and everything between over the last many years:  Earl will never be forgotten, and I strive to mirror his unparalleled qualities which never steered shy of sheer honesty. Was so glad to have met Earl last year, he impressed me with his genuine caring attitude and strong sense of loyalty.  You could tell that his very best friend was his wife Tammy.  They seemed so in tune with each other, completing each other's sentences and having that close relationship for 37 years is a rarity in today's times.  Tammy you will be in our continued thoughts and prayers for comfort and strength in the days to come.

I first met Earl many years ago when he worked at the Gaillardia business office and I provided desktop support for that location. When Earl would see me there he would always say Hi, and we'd shoot the breeze for a little bit. 

Many things have changed since, and I haven't seen him in several years. But, I have fond memories of those days back then.

I met Earl back in the early 1980's when we were stationed together in the US Air Force at RAF Greenham Common. Technically, I was his boss but the men and women in our section were very close and it was more of a team experience than any I have known before or since. I credit Earl with enlightening me on personal computing. In fact, because of him, I went on to establish a career path based in computer science and programming applied to healthcare. He was always energetic and exceptionally intelligent, he contributed to the overall positivity of our work environment and we have remained friends ever since. I will miss Earl, he was a special person, so sad to have him go so young. Our deepest condolences.

Tammy it's always too soon to lose the love of your life.
 I have been remembering Earl and I growing up spending the summers on the carnival. The fun we had and the trouble we always seemed to get into. I remember one summer Earl had started playing chess the winter before, he tried all summer to teach me to play without much luck. He always beat me in under twelve moves. 
I remember the night he met you at the Clinton fair, the look in his eyes and the way he spoke of you. I knew he had met "The one".
Earl will always be in our hearts and memories.
