Bill was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Paul and Carol Karl. On May 20th, 1983, at the young age of 18, Bill joined the United States Airforce, and thus began his long and proud career in the Military. Bill traveled vastly and lived overseas in multiple countries. It was on one of these overseas deployments in the United Kingdom that he met Sharan, and on June 18th, 1999, they were married. Together they raised one daughter, Natalie. Throughout his military career Bill earned various medals, making him a well decorated member.
Bill was an exceptionally good man with a serving heart. He was extremely kind, with a smile and laugh that lit up a room. He loved computers and technology, and even after his retirement from the military in December of 2006, he continued to work for the air force as a contract civilian. Bill never met a stranger, and he loved to socialize and make people laugh. He was an incredible father that constantly provided and exuded love and support daily. This love was magnified when he became a grandparent. His joy and hobbies quickly became playing with, and taking care of his grandchildren. Swimming all summer, star gazing, bike riding, and playing computer games were just a few of the ways he spent time with his grandchildren. Bill loved many evenings and weekends spent with his wife, Sharan, and greatly enjoyed and appreciated her company. He was grateful for good food, good friends, and family time.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Carol. He is survived by his father, Paul; wife, Sharan; daughter, Natalie; son-in-law, Ali; grandchildren, Ethan and Everly; brother, John; sisters, Rebecca and Jennifer; along with nieces and nephews.
