February 28, 1925 – December 20, 2011
Peacefully at his home in St. Albert and in the caring arms of his wife Vera Irene Dery, Darnell joined his comrades-in-arms with the Lord. Pre-deceased some years ago by his Father (Paul) and Mother (Eva), brother Melvin (Joe) and sister Muriel (‘Bubbles’), Darnell leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Irene (St. Albert) and two sons and their wives, Mel (Daphne) and Vern (Jacquie), four grandchildren (Aaron, Tracy, Brendan, Bryce), one great-Grand-daughter (Shaelynn), and two sisters Barbara and Valerie.
Darnell was born in Cold Lake, Alberta, where he lived many of his years and raised his family. The family moved to British Columbia. In 2005, they relocated to St. Albert.
Darnell was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the European theatre from February, 1944 until the end of the war.
As Darnell wished, a memorial mass and grave-side service will be held in Cold Lake, Alberta, in the Spring-time, 2012. Donations may be made in Darnell’s memory to The Salvation Army.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.memoriesfuneral.com
