Barbara Jean Ferne-Montgomerie

Barbara was the loving wife, partner and travel buddy of Ian for over 45 years, loving and proud mother to Jessica and Scott and his wife, Kenna, sister to Leonard, and cherished daughter of parents Edna and Gordon Ferne of Lethbridge.

Barb spent her early years in Lethbridge and came to Edmonton to study physiotherapy at the University of Alberta. Following her first placements at the General Hospital, she set off to travel the world taking one year to travel through Europe, the Mid-East, Africa, and Asia to Australia, where she lived, worked and travelled in Western Australia and Sydney for another two years. Returning to Canada, Barb settled down to raise two wonderful children, become an established and respected manual therapist and owner of a successful private practice. Woven into this busy life was a love for the outdoors including cross-country skiing, biking, gardening, camping and travel. Barb’s was a life full of enjoyment and lasting friendships.

The family extends their greatest thanks to the staff of the Grey Nuns Intensive Care Unit for their professional and supportive care.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday May 20, 2017 at Hainstocks’s Funeral Home, 9810- 34th Avenue, Edmonton.
