Barry Alexander MacKenzie

Barry Alexander Mackenzie, beloved husband, father, and friend, died after a long illness on June 28, 2024. Barry was predeceased by Patricia, his devoted wife of 60 years; and is survived by daughters Camilla (Greg Petkovich, John, Claire); Tara (Chris Boland, Kate); son Matthew (Brynn, Eli); sisters-in law Maxine Woodward (Terrea, Shaleen) and Eila Mackenzie (Davin, Ian, Duncan).

Barry was born in Regina in 1939 and received his Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1961. In 1963 Barry married the love of his life, Patricia. Barry had considerable career success in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. However, devotion to family was the defining element of Barry’s life – in particular, his devotion to Pat. Barry’s motto for our family, Unus pro omnibus et pro omnibus (One for all and all for one), will forever remain with us. Barry loved entertaining with Pat in their beautiful home always filled with family and friends, sharing music and insightful political conversations. Dad, we miss you and Mom terribly, thank you for being such wonderful parents.

Barry’s funeral will be at St Thomas More Catholic Parish, 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton on Tuesday, August 6 at 11:00 am. All are welcome.
