It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cameron Mackay in a vehicle accident. Cam was fortunate to have lived a very full rewarding life. Being quick-witted, kind, and generous earned him an abundance of friends and acquaintances. He was passionate about fishing, the Oilers and traveling, especially to Morocco. His positive attitude, zest for life, and love will be deeply missed.
Cam grew up in St. Albert, graduating from Paul Kane High School. He joined the Army Reserve (745 Communications Squadron) to earn money for university, obtaining his degree in Commerce from the University of Alberta.Lac La Biche county was his starting point post degree. Within a few years he realized he liked to work independently and started his own business Open Spaces Doggie Day Care in Campbell park St. Albert.
His interest in politics and a desire to serve his community resulted in a seat on city council for a total of seven years. While on council he pursued a land management certificate, graduating with distinction.
Cam’s final role was as a senior property manager with Kenway Property Management. Here he found his niche often expressing how much he loved the work.
Cam will be lovingly remembered by his partner and soul mate, Mia Moren Cadalina; daughter, Kelsey Saxby-MacKay (Cody Miller) and her mother, Lisa Saxby; Mia’s mother and father Nenita and Emilio Cadalina; mother, Donna MacKay; brother, Arthur MacKay (Bobbi, John and Sydney); father, Cameron MacKay; aunts, Dr. Maralyn MacKay and Sandra Shoemaker (Stan); and cousins, Talia (Ossian), Terek (Carey, Breck and Ridley), and Ethan (Emanuella, Matteo, Elio and Annie Rose).
