Born Caroline Pasiechnik on March 4, 1932, to Wes and Dora Pasiechnik in Preeceville, SK, she was raised on the farm in the Checkow district southwest of Preeceville. Caroline attended the Checkow country school while growing up.
She worked as a waitress in Preeceville until she married Walter Stefanyshyn in July of 1953. They farmed in the Ketchen area until moving to Preeceville in 1962 where they raised 5 children.
After the passing of her husband, Walter in January of 1976, she worked at various jobs until finding permanent employment at the Macleods store, and a part-time job as a janitor at the Credit Union in Preeceville. After her children left home she volunteered at the Preeceville Public Library.
She retired in 1996 and moved to Edmonton in 1997 to be closer to children who resided in Alberta.
In retirement she enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. She canned dill pickles from cucumbers she grew in her garden and made pies from cherries that she picked from a tree in her yard.
She spoke fondly of her travels which included Toronto, Montreal, Niagara Falls, Disneyland in Anaheim, Sea World in San Diego, and Tijuana Mexico.
