OBITUARY

Darcy Dale David Evans

25 December, 197331 August, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darcy Evans born December 25, 1973. He passed away in a motorcycle accident on August 31, 2020 at the age of 46. He will be dearly missed by his spouse Melissa Monz, his parents Don and Annette Evans, his sister Nicky Evans (Jason Leonard), his nephew Taylor Monk, his grandfather Dave Evans and all his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his nephew Cole Alexander Evans.

Darcy had strong love of photography, spending time with his dogs, friends, and in particular his nephew Taylor Monk. He was accomplished in many areas. Darcy’s greatest love was capturing photos of animals and pets where he had a unique talent in photographing the true inner essence of an animal.

He was a very accomplished motorcycle rider and took part in many bike trips throughout Alberta and BC. He was welcoming and friendly to everyone he met. Darcy was loved by all those who knew him within the motorcycle and photography community. To leave this world the way he did is heartbreaking, but he died doing something he loved.

As per Darcy’s request there will not be a funeral or interment. A private memorial will be held for close friends and family at a later date. As a tribute to Darcy a memorial bench will be placed in a local dog park.

I met Darcy years ago selling his calendars at chapters in Edmonton. We became friends over a love of animals and cameras. I had the pleasure of working as his assistant for photos with Santa. He had such an understanding of all creatures. His dementor was gentle and experienced and animals and people could feel his gentle, genuine intentions. Darcy also came and took our family photos to commemorate my 25th wedding anniversary. Photos I treasure, they are remarkable representations of my family. I hope wherever Darcy finds himself now there is GOOD, spiced rum, pets, people, open roads and cameras. I will miss you!

Don, Annette, Nicky, Taylor and family, our deepest condolences on the sudden passing of Darcy.

I have such great memories of spending time with Darcy and Don years ago, when we were at the flee markets with our hockey trading cards. Darcy, was so good with people and made the days go quickly. He was also very good at finding deals for Don and I. In the years that followed I got a chance to see and chat with him periodically, downtown,on his way into work. I think he had just bought his first bike and was enjoying riding it to work.....Always polite, always sincere....

My condolences to Darcy's family. I had met and talked to Darcy a number of times at McBain, including a time where he proudly showed off his wildlife photos he took with his new Sony camera and lens. I regularly work with many people, and my first impression of him was kind, considerate, helpful and friendly. I am sure he will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

My deepest condolences to Darcy's family and loved one's. I was shocked to hear of Darcy's sudden passing. I worked with Darcy for several years and he was one of the most genuine individuals I have ever met. He was an amazing photographer and and had an amazing eye to capture the beauty in things most people would overlook. He will be truly missed.
