David is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife; Erlinda MacPherson, his cherished daughter; Jennifer MacPherson (Phillip) and the grandchildren who brought him endless joy; Miles, Kaia, and Malia. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; Ernest and Ethel MacPherson, his stepmother; Aletha MacPherson, his sister Jackie and his brother Keith.
David worked as a machinist for more than 30 years at a nut and bolt manufacturing company. He took pride in providing for his family through honest, dedicated work and found satisfaction in a job well done.
To those who knew him, David will be remembered for his kindness and his steady, dependable nature. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply listen. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for, no matter who they were.
Known to many as “Papa Dave,” he was more than just a father to his own family—he was a father figure to countless others. He played with the kids at gatherings, taught them how to ride their bikes, and welcomed Jennifer’s friends as if they were his own. Many of them grew up calling him Papa Dave, knowing they could turn to him for help, guidance, or just someone who would listen without judgment. He was always ready to lend his tools, his time, and his heart.
David enjoyed reading, movies, music, and puzzles, and in recent years took pride in his daily walks. In his younger days he loved travelling and cars, but his greatest joy came from the life he built with Erlinda and the family they shared.
He was incredibly handy and could fix almost anything, and he was always the first call when something needed to be done. His grandchildren adored him—he was their “tickle monster,” their snack provider, their soccer player, and their constant playmate. He rarely said no to them, and he loved every moment of it. From the day each of them was born, he cherished them deeply and completely.
Above all else, David loved deeply. His life was defined not by grand gestures, but by the quiet, consistent way he showed up for the people around him. His kindness, generosity, and the way he made others feel like family will never be forgotten.
He will be missed beyond words and loved forever.
