He was predeceased by his parents Exequiel de Guzman and Caridad (Braganza) de Guzman.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years Carmen, his daughter, Clarissa, his siblings in the Philippines Archimedes, Nene Joy and Noel, all of his of nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends and extended families.
Delfin was born in Mabini, Pangasinan, Philippines on September 1, 1948. His love for God and the Church made him enter the seminary to become a priest but was unable to finish. He then obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Commerce and proceeded to work in the Philippine Heart Centre, Ore Sources and Municipality of Mabini. On December 15, 2003, he and his daughter immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to be with his wife who had immigrated previously. He worked in Safeway Canada until his retirement at age 65.
Delfin enjoyed writing speeches, a good game of tennis, and an afternoon of listening to the oldies. He also enjoyed travelling around the world with family. Fondly known to families and friends as “Amang,” “Boss” and ”Kuyang,” Delfin was a kind and gentle soul whose presence and memories brought a smile to people’s faces. He was a man of dry humor and of few words, which usually included, “Yes Inang,” but spoke decisively when warranted. He encouraged those around him to be happy, healthy, and to be their best self. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
