Dona May Rose

As we all know Mom’s wishes were to have a small celebration of her life in the spring at her son and Daughter-in-laws, Dennis and Sheryl's.

Dad is having difficulties processing the loss of his wife due to his organic Alzheimer’s and the loss of his long time friend and companion.

Celebration of Life for Dona May Rose: this event will be held on March 28, 2020 at the Manor(12607- 147 Avenue) where they resided. The event will happen from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in the community Hall of the Manor (basement). Please join us for our normal Saturday night family meal (all recipes are Mom’s) including home baked beans, wieners and buns, served with salad and to finish off the meal, Mom’s famous cheesecake. Lunch will be served beginning at 12:30. As we all remember there was nothing like Mom’s famous baked beans and cheesecake. Please come and join us in celebrating our Mom.

A note to everyone – Dad needs this Celebration to happen as he remembers other lives have been celebrated in this way. He has asked repeatedly when the funeral will be and he is happy with the response that it will be a Celebration of Life and not a funeral. Please remember that his brain processes events like this differently than ours might and it takes longer to register and process the devastation Mom’s passing has created in his world.

The family would love to have everyone join us in Celebrating Mom on March 28, 2020. If you need a copy of the death certificate to get a cheaper flight to Edmonton, please let Karen know and she will get it to you as quickly as she can. If you need something to advise employers of the Celebration of Life, it will be added to the obituary notice that has already been posted. We decided to hold the Celebration of Life a month away to allow everyone from out of town to arrange to come if they would like.
