Elizabeth M Reid

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Elizabeth Margaret Reid, who passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born in Hungary, Liz came to Canada as a young child with her parents, Andy and Helen Vajta, and her newborn sister Julie, beginning a new life far from the home they had left behind. She grew up in Calgary, where she met her husband, George, and together they built their family and made their home in Edmonton.

Liz was the heart and matriarch of her family. She was known for her sweet nature, gentle spirit, and kind heart, touching the lives of so many simply by being herself.

She will be deeply missed by her husband George, son Jared, son-in-law Shane, granddaughters Kassidy and Kaitlin, sister Julie, niece Lindsay, grand-niece Penelope, and her many friends and extended family.

Liz was predeceased by her parents, Andy and Helen, and her beloved daughter, Jessica.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Liz is finally at peace. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the love she gave us and the memories she leaves behind.

Gone for now, but not forever.

A Funeral Service will be held in honour of Elizabeth on Sunday, September 13th, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Hainstock’s Funeral Home & Crematorium 9810 - 34 Avenue Edmonton, AB
