It is with great sadness and precious memories the family of Ernie Lidgett say goodbye to him. He passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020 in the arms of his loving wife of 59 years, Donna. Ernie fought a brave battle with bone cancer. God saw him getting tired and took him home to Heaven. He loved his family and was always there for them.
Ernie enjoyed golfing at Pipestone Links with his special friends and having lunch at the Wetaskiwin Legion. He was a regular cribbage player at SEESA where he enjoyed the comradery of many friends. Every Thursday Ernie joined other ATCO retirees for coffee at McDonalds.
Ernie and Donna loved to travel. They went to England, Maui and across Canada to visit relatives on several occasions.
The last trip Ernie and Donna took was in June 2019 to visit their son Rob and Alana, who planned a special holiday for them. They stayed at the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort, visited Parksville and enjoyed numerous activities. Rob arranged a fishing trip and Ernie caught the biggest fish, which made his day very special.
After retirement he got a job driving heavy duty trucks across Canada and the USA. He loved to tell stories about his adventures. He drove a special heavy equipped truck from Toronto to a port in Miami, destined for Russia.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Donna; sons David, Daniel and Robert (Alana); grandsons James (Lisa), Nicholas; granddaughter Amanda; great granddaughters Xana and Kayda; sister Rose; nieces Sherrie (Ray), Debbie (Doug) and Patti (Gord); aunt Myrtle; cousins, friends and neighbours.
