Evelyn was born on June 22, 1940, in Steinbach, Manitoba, to Olga Zdan and John Zigarlick. Her life took her to many different places, and over the years she called Pine Point, NWT; Fort McMurray, Alberta; Fox Creek, Alberta; and Cochrane, Alberta, home before eventually settling in St. Albert, Alberta.
Evelyn lived a full and independent life and had a wonderful sense of adventure. An avid traveller, she enjoyed seeing new places and experiencing what they had to offer. She was also a lifelong sports enthusiast, with a particular love for curling, golf and baseball.
Evelyn was a generous person who was always willing to help those she cared about. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and her homemade perogies, cookies and other treats became familiar favourites among family over the years. Strong-willed and never afraid to express her opinion, Evelyn also enjoyed a good debate and was known to be fairly certain she was on the right side of it.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Arvon Thomas; her parents, Olga and John; and her brothers, John Zigarlick Jr. and Lawrence Zigarlick.
She is lovingly remembered by her brothers, Norm Zigarlick, Ted Zigarlick (Eleanor), as well as her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In preserving Evelyn's wishes, no funeral services will be held.
Evelyn will be remembered for her generosity, independence and sense of adventure, and for the many memories she leaves with her family and those who knew her.
