So sorry to hear of Ferns passing. I have great memories of Fern when my husband pipelined with Midwest. I spent lots of evenings with Fern, Ken and Doreen while they drank coffee and told stories. Many, many laughs. Such a nice man. Condolences to all the family.

Uncle Fernie always knew how to show us a fun time at the farm. I was probably 15 when he pulled out the Ski-Doos, sat me in the driver’s seat, and said, “Tap the gas lightly with your thumb and steer straight.” It wasn’t long before the snowmobile shot out from under me, sending the Ski-Doo off as I layed in the snow. He was so patient and made sure to grab Mitchell to take me out so I could still enjoy the afternoon. Thank you, Uncle Fernie, for always trying to teach a city girl to hold her own at the farm ;)

Love you,

Fernie always knew how to make people laugh. He was an amazing uncle and my fondest memory with him was playing hockey on the ice rink he made and him giving me a chair to lean on because I couldn’t skate! He will be greatly missed.

Playing hockey at Uncle Fernie's acreage. Whether it was this memory or any other time I spent with him, he was always cracking jokes!

We were very fond of Fern and his happy disposition and ready smile at Lauman's Landing... where he built his beautiful log cabin and garage. He seemed to be living life with full joy after beating cancer...and then it came back like this. Life isn't always fair but people like Fern sure make the world a better place. Everyone that knew him at the lake will really miss him and remember him with a smile. Blessings to the family.
