Gennievive "Gen" Solilap Capulso-Rosales

Gennievive “Gen” Capulso- Rosales, 43, of North Glenora, went home with the Lord Wednesday, March 29, after bravely battling cancer for four years. She was born and grew up in Sta. Cruz Manila, Philippines, to Maria Cecilia Solilap and Candido Capulso Jr. on June 28, 1979. Gen went to the same school as her older sibling- Cecilio Apostol Elementary School and Manila High School and played string instruments such as Octavina, Banduria, and Laud as a member of the Rondalla group. Gennievive got a full scholarship at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila) and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Wanting to experience life living abroad, Gen worked for a company in the United Arab Emirates, where she met Rosmond “Mon” Rosales, before moving to Canada in 2008. On September 8, 2010, she married Mon in the historic walled city of Intramuros, Manila, and decided to settle permanently in Edmonton. Gen was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, relative, and friend. She would even give her last penny to others to help because she experienced firsthand how to be poor and helpless growing up. Though to many, her life seems to be full of adversities up to the last hour, Gen says she felt the love of the Lord and yielded to His perfect will.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mon; daughter, Sofia, and brother Christopher Capulso of Manchester, New Hampshire, USA; sister-in-law Cristina Capulso; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A viewing will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail Edmonton, AB on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

A funeral Service to celebrate Gen’s life will be held at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail Edmonton, AB on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Cremation entrusted to Memories Funeral Home.
